Jason Mecier has “spent more than 10 years creating outrageous 3-D mosaic portraits of his favorite pop culture icons. Each portrait is created from the celebrity’s own discarded objects and junk such as broken sunglasses, makeup, gum wrappers, jewelry, deodorant, shoes, and other items. Participants and celebrity clients include Phyllis Diller, Rosie O’Donnell, Paris Hilton, Pam Anderson, Farrah Fawcett, Florence Henderson, Elvira, Pink, and many, many more.

Mecier’s artwork is featured in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! book Prepare to be Shocked!, and Taschen’s Illustration Now! Other clients include The Food Network, Neiman Marcus, Corona, MTV, W Hotel, Rolling Stone, Showtime, Entertainment Weekly, The Village Voice and The New York Times, among others.

In his licorice mosaics, He artfully twists red and black licorice to create uncanny likenesses of some of today's most popular entertainers and images from US popular culture.
