Gomitolo Knitted Clock

A simply breathtaking design like nothing else we have seen before, the red Gomitolo clock has a body made entirely from knitted cotton.  Gomitolo is the Italian name for a ball of wound twine, wool or string and is perfectly fitting in this case as the clock retains the same softness of form that you’d expect from its namesake.

This fantastically creative timepiece is the result of a collaboration between Carlo + Benedetta Tamborini, one an industrial designer and the other a fashion designer, yet both with a common goal of challenging preconceptions by bringing products together with totally unexpected materials.

The result, in the case of the red Gomitolo, is a clock that is as visually attractive as it is beautifully tactile, tempting the viewer to get up close for a stroke or squeeze just to confirm that their eyes are not deceiving them.

       

The Gomitolo Clock is available in a large 50cm diameter and a simply breathtaking 90cm diameter, and is designed to be informally lent against walls and left to sit in quite unconventional locations.
