It’s a well-known fact that Emily Brontë wrote, not in ink, but in paint. In bright yellow paint to be exact. She found writing with paint allowed a certain level of creativity and jubilance, as her words appeared to jump out at her from the page; grinning and encouraging her to continue with ‘Wuthering Heights’.
She found normal pen ink to be rather dull and didn’t excite her enough. That is until she accidentally knocked the whole pot over and yellow paint saturated her pages like an explosion in a custard factory.
That manuscript, ruined by the paint, is known as the ‘Yellow Pages’ and resides in the British Museum.
